Ghidorah is an extraterrestrial organism, and the main antagonist of the 2019 film Godzilla: Rise of the Hyperfauna.
Description[]
Ghidorah's heads are superficially skull-like, with crocodile-like teeth protruding from the gum line. The eyes are small, and positioned in a small dip, with a large ridge below it, like the orbital cavity and zygomatic arch of a mammal. For aerodynamics, the heads lay flush against one another during flight. These are not true heads as such, but are instead superficially analogous to the tentacles of an octopus, albeit equipped with sensory organs. Memories are retained within the central body, the front half of which serving as the actual head. The heads do have a rudimentary digestive tract, though its primary purpose is to emit gravity beams.
The wings are comprised of a forewing and a hindwing, which are fused together by a pure chitin membrane, giving them a strange, translucent appearance. It prefers to walk on all fours, and takes off by pole-vaulting like a pterosaur, though it can, of course, stand on two legs; such stances are primarily reserved for moments of extreme danger, where aposematic or deimatic displays are truly necessary. Ghidorah is capable of either soaring or powered flight, though its extreme bulk means it prefers the former.
The wings can generate a number of gasses at high speeds, including ozone, nitrogen dioxide, and nitrogen tetroxide, all of which it uses for propulsion or as weapons. A more common method of generating propulsion is simply by releasing its internal gasses at high speeds, and the friction of the atmosphere causes a large force of thrust. Internally, specialized organs promote a process similar to fusion; when expelled, these so-called gravity beams cause violent bursts of energy, attracting nearby objects towards the epicenter.
History[]
Origins[]
Judging from the conditions it naturally emits, it is likely that Ghidorah originated from Venus. Remnants of technologically advanced civilizations found on the planet confirm that it was, at one point, habitable. Whether Ghidorah was the sole cause of its global ecocide or one of many contributing factors, the local fauna was completely decimated. Eventually, Ghidorah somehow escaped to interplanetary space, and began heading in the direction of another planet: Earth.
The Storm Begins[]
Roughly 3,000 years ago, Ghidorah somehow arrived on Earth. Encountering a lush world, wholly different to that which it had abandoned, the extraterrestrial began the total terraforming of the Earth. At some point, though, there was significant pushback; three other titans, Godzilla, Mothra and Rodan, apparently joined forces to fend off Ghidorah, eventually resulting in the alien being sealed somewhere within the Antarctic Circle.
