Godzilla: Gods Among Is is a comic book series from IDW Publishing. The story deals with the Alien Spirit Dragon, King Ghidorah, and his plot to overthrow Mankind and the Earth's Kaiju, and reality as a whole, but Godzilla and the G-Graspers attempt to stop the catastrophic threat to not just the Earth, but the entire universe.

Plot[]

Issue 1[]

Following the final battle of the Xiliens and Kilaaks, the spirit, Ghidorah, tumbles though time itself, coming to rest on Earth. Ghidorah's "fall" has sundered reality, creating a Black Hole at the heart of creation, into which all of space and time are slowly being drawn, setting the stage for Ghidorah's final victory.

Years later in 1954, Godzilla attacks Tokyo, and leaving it to ruin. The capital of Japan is moved from Tokyo to Osaka. In 1996, Godzilla attacks a nuclear power plant. After this, the G-Graspers, a section of both the Japan Self-Defense Forces and the United States Military, is dedicated to to combat Godzilla. In 2005, clean plasma energy replaces nuclear energy, but this does not deter Godzilla from attacking the original plasma energy reactor, it too is banned.

Issue 2[]

49 years later, in 2054, 100 years have passed since the first Godzilla attack. More new Monsters, called Kaiju, have been destroying the World's great cities during those 100 years. However, in 2054, Civilization has been restored and relative peace among nations exists thanks to many of the inventions that the G-Graspers made, such as Anti-Kaiju Domes with powerful glass, Maser Cannons, etc. and major cities like Tokyo were rebuilt and modernised with amalgamated technologies.

An experimental satellite-based weapon that fires miniature black holes, called the Dimension Tide, opens a portal, and Ghidorah enters it. He attacks Area 51, where Meganulon and MUTOs are kept. Ghidorah frees the Kaiju and they begin to be brainwashed by Ghidorah to attack the world. Days later, and Ghidorah destroys the Domes, and other brainwashed kaiju, attack earth once more, with Godzilla returning to attack New York City.

In Infant Island, Mothra appears and leaves to join the war.

Issue 3[]

Godzilla breaks frees from Ghidorah's control. He then meets Mothra, and the two Kaiju meet Ghidorah in North Island, the birth place of Godzilla. As the Kaiju fight, the G-Graspers help with the aid of Dr. Hajime Kudo. A swarm of Meganula care attracted to Godzilla's energy. The Dimension Tide is launched on Ghidorah, but he survives the attack. After the fight, the Meganula Inject the energy on the Queen, which transforms into Megaguirus.

Issue 4[]

Godzilla them battles the other brainwashed Kaiju, breaking them free from Ghidorah's control. Meanwhile, many scientists search for the truth about Ghidorah, which is finally exposed. Mankind now knows the war between the Xiliens and Kilaaks over the control of Ghidorah. When Ghidorah attacks Shibuya, he is dubbed "King Ghidorah".

Issue 5[]

Godzilla them faces King Ghidorah in the waterfront. They engage in a lengthy battle. Godzilla is knocked out when the Alien Spirit Dragon's electric beams. The G-Graspers attempt to attack King Ghidorah, but are forced to retreat.

Issue 6[]

But luckily, the other Monsters arrive. But Megaguirus is on Ghidorah's side. The battle is hard and long, but Ghidorah is finally destroyed, bursting into flames because of the combination of some of the Monsters beams. The Kaiju them return to birth island.
