New York City has been described as the cultural, financial, and media capital of the world, and exerts a significant impact upon commerce, entertainment, research, technology, education, politics, tourism, art, fashion, and sports. Home to the headquarters of the United Nations, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy.
It appears in various films of the Reiwa series only as a secondary location, no films in the series so far use New York City as its main setting.

Approximately 30 minutes after Clara's impact in central France, it has triggered a global firestorm that slowly engulfs the Earth. New York City is destroyed within seconds as the global firestorm travels at the speed of sound, vaporizing its famous landmarks in an instant, including the MetLife Building, Chrysler Building, Times Square, and Empire State Building. Central Park and the rest of Manhattan is slowly obliterated while the Hudson River evaporates due to increased temperature.

- In #JusticeForLove: End of the World, one of the scenes depict the Lower Manhattan skyline without the One World Trade Center, despite being set in 2020 while the building was completed in 2014.
- On the other hand, Moonfall depicts the One World Trade Center during its own New York City destruction scene, but is not destroyed.
- During the top-down shot of Manhattan being obliterated by the firestorm, the Central Park Reservoir could also be seen evaporating instantly, indicating the very intense heat.
