Volker Engel (born 17 February 1965) is a German visual effects artist, who is best known as one of director Roland Emmerich's collaborators. He won at the 69th Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects on the film Independence Day. He won with Douglas Smith, Clay Pinney and Joe Viskocil. Other works included Independence Day: Crucible, 2012, Hugo and White House Down. He would later go onto supervise the visual effects for the first three Justice for the World films, in which all three would be nominated for Best Visual Effects, with the third film winning the award for him once again.
